Likas Galaxy - See You Again!

Saturday, 15 April 2006

My last visit (for the time being) to the Likas Galaxy dance group, the group that celebrated their 1st anniversary 2 weeks ago, on the 1 April.

Flora, Catherine, Lee Hong, Judy and Cecilia outside their hall.

It is good to see Lee Moi this morning.

Chern Xi - Dinner at Promenade

Thursday, 13 April 2006

One week ago, I had the opportunity to join Chern Xi 2nd anniversary celebration and tonight I am glad I can join them again, for a casual dinner, at the Promenade hotel. After tonight, I don't know when I will see them again.

Japanese Lunch

Wednesday, 12 April 2006

Another Japanese treat in a week! The third one! In fact I am not so keen on Japanese food but it was fun trying it out, with my friends, at different places. This time, we had it for lunch, in the city centre.

With Doreen, Tao Chung, Cecilia and Su Fah.

With Doreen and her children.

Spotted a glass bowl of flowers filled with water.

Shabu Shabu

Monday, 10 April 2006

A new experience for me. We had Japanese steamboat (Shabu Shabu) at a restaurant in Lintas.

The stock, of your choice, would be poured into your bowl, and topped up whenever you wanted.

You would wait until the soup is boiled and then throw in any of the food that was served in a tray (fish, meat, veg, etc.) of your choice. You cooked your own, whatever you want and how you want it. The restaurant had a nice relaxing setting. I liked it.

Chern Xi 2nd Anniversary - 2006

Thursday, 6 April 2006

Tonight, the Chern Xi dance group celebrated their 2nd anniversary. The cake was made by their teacher - fantastic!

Chern Xi dance group with their teacher, Annie, who is also the teacher of the Luyang dance group.

2 dance groups were invited to this party. The Likas Galaxy dance group.

And the Luyang dance group.

and with their big umbrellas, framed by long fans.

The presents that I received from the Chern Xi dance group: a big card, a bouquet of flowers and a pair of dual coloured fans.

What an enjoyable evening!

Likas Galaxy Dance Group

Thursday, 6 April 2006

Joined the Likas Galaxy class this morning. Their classes are on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 7:30-9:30 am. I had ordered a cake for them as well.

A picture with their umbrellas.

A picture with their long fans.

Japanese Curry

Thursday, 6 April 2006

This lunch, I had the opportunity to taste Japanese curry with some friends. It is unlike the Malay or Indian curry that I usually take. There is no coconut milk so it is not thick. I like it because it is not as spicy.

Spending lunch with my friends.

Foochow Association - Dance Group

Wednesday, 5 April 2006

Like the Chern Xi group, this class also have their classes at the Foochow Association, but on different days. Theirs are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00-9:00 am.

Those are the only time that both groups could use the hall because after that the hall would be used for badminton. Some of the members were my former students at the Bukit Padang park. Their present teacher comes from the same state as me, Sarawak, so it is good to visit a fellow statewoman! The picture was taken at the Golf club, after the class.

Che Sui Khor Moral Uplifting Dance Group

Wednesday, 5 April 2006

The Che Sui Khor Moral Uplifting dance group was formed by a student of mine in February 2005. I thought I visit her at her class this morning. Her class is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:30-9:30 am.

Chern Xi Folk Dance Group

Tuesday, 4 April 2006

Another dance group that I taught before, from January 2004 to January 2005. It was known as Churn Ing before. I had the opportunity to visit with the members this morning. Since I had a cake made for the Luyang group, Annie also delivered a cake for the Chern Xi.

Don't ever say you are too old to dance! If your legs and feet don't hurt and you have the interest and desire to learn, age is not the problem. Lucia is a sweet lady in her early 70's and a retired school teacher. She is my oldest student and I am proud to have her as my student. I have seen her doing the ballroom, folk and line dances and I admire her for her grace and enthusiasm. She can dance to the beats of the music!

The hall was dark so the ladies posed for me outside, with their fans.

They rented the hall of the Foochow Association and their classes are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 0700-0900 am.

Luyang Folk Dance Group

Monday, 4 April 2006 and Tuesday, 12 April 2006

Visited the Luyang Folk Dance Group at the Luyang Community hall. It felt good to be back in the hall, where I was teaching from April 2003 to January 2005, and I am happy for the opportunity to meet with the students that I taught there before as well as meeting the new students. Their classes are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 0800-1000 am.

Annie made a lovely chocolate cake, topped up with fresh cream, for the morning of the 4 April!

The present teacher, Annie (different Annie from the cake maker), and her guest teacher, Adeline.

The ladies were pratising 3 dances, that would be presented as welcoming dances in their 3rd anniversary celebration on the 1st May. This is a Chinese folk dance, clicking 2 small cups (bowls) on each side of the hand.

Another Chinese folk dance, holding ribbons on both hands.

And lastly a Chinese folk dance, using long fans, on both hands, as well.
